Course Aim: To introduce roles and responsibilities of the engineer, the safety and sustainability in engineering practices, the impact of engineering on the environment and the society, and the professional code of conduct in engineering.
Intended Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of the course, the students should be able to: ➢ demonstrate social, cultural, global, and environmental responsibilities as an engineer; ➢ explain ethical issues and problems that arise in professional environment; ➢ interpret the significance of engineering practice in safety and sustainability; ➢ explain regulatory and statutory requirements for engineering practice. |

Course Content: ➢ Evolution of industry and its future: historical development, industrial and technological revolutions, and emerging trends ➢ Energy sources and the impact of their use on the society ➢ Environmental issues, assessing industrial impact on the environment, and on the society. ➢ Sustainable development and engineering sustainability issues in engineering safety, engineering accidents, safety in design, and the human factor in safety. ➢ The workforce and human relations, Issues of fundamental rights and human rights ➢ Legal liabilities and legal responsibilities to society. ➢ Professional code of conduct |
